NAF ATR-42 Crashes Near Igbokoda in Ondo as Rescue Operation Continues

A Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 maritime patrol aircraft reportedly crashed near Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday, October 5, 2026. The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos when air traffic controllers lost contact with it at about 9:13 a.m. The wreckage has reportedly been located near a Nigerian Navy base in Igbokoda. Officials said 25 passengers and seven crew members, making 32 people, were on board. Search-and-rescue teams are working at the scene, while authorities have not confirmed casualties or the cause of the crash.
