Minister Musawa Mourns Nollywood Legend Olu Jacobs, Who Died at 84
The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has mourned the death of veteran Nigerian actor Sir Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs. He died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, aged 84. Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa described Jacobs as a national institution and one of the pillars of Nigeria’s entertainment industry. She praised his more than five decades of work on stage and screen. The minister also highlighted the impact of the Lufodo Academy, which has trained actors, directors and filmmakers. The ministry extended condolences to his wife, Dame Joke Silva, their children and the family.
