IPMAN Urges FG to Intervene as Dangote Refinery Petrol Prices Rise

IPMAN Urges FG to Intervene as Dangote Refinery Petrol Prices Rise

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has asked the Federal Government to engage Dangote Petroleum Refinery and other local refiners over rising petrol prices. IPMAN said retail petrol prices recently climbed to between ₦1,310 and ₦1,345 per litre in Abuja and nearby areas after increases in gantry and ex-depot prices. The association argued that a government-backed pricing arrangement for domestic refiners could lower pump prices, cushion crude-market shocks and reduce energy costs. It maintained that such intervention would be different from a return to the former blanket fuel-subsidy regime.
