Djokovic Requests Seat to Watch Wawrinka’s Farewell Match in Basel

Novak Djokovic has asked Swiss Indoors officials for a seat at Stan Wawrinka’s farewell match in Basel, in a show of respect for his longtime rival. Wawrinka is expected to retire after the 2026 Swiss Indoors, ending a career that has spanned more than two decades. His opening-round match against Jiri Lehecka could be his final appearance on tour. Swiss Indoors president Roger Brennwald said Djokovic made the request as soon as his own participation was confirmed. Djokovic will watch alongside Swiss sporting figures Martina Hingis and Dario Cologna.
