My In-Laws Arrive Unannounced and Expect Me to Host Them for Days
I am married with two children, and my husband and I live in the four-bedroom home he built. His relatives often arrive without calling ahead and may stay for several days. I respect them and do not mind family visits, but hosting quickly becomes my full responsibility. I have to cook every meal, clean up and make sure everyone is comfortable, on top of caring for my children and running the home. They rarely offer to help. I have raised it with my husband, but I do not want him to think I am trying to distance him from his family. Still, I believe we should agree on boundaries, including notice before overnight visits and shared hosting duties. Am I being unreasonable, or should my husband address this with his family?
