UK and Canada Pledge Closer Cooperation on Trade, Defence and AI
The United Kingdom and Canada have pledged to deepen cooperation on trade, defence and artificial intelligence following talks between their leaders in Liverpool. Canada has applied to join the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force. Both countries also discussed defence-industry collaboration, including Canada’s potential involvement in the Global Combat Air Programme with the UK, Italy and Japan. The talks also covered stronger economic ties, cooperation with European partners, online safety and the responsible development of frontier AI technologies.
