Nigeria at 66: Orelope-Adefulire Urges Faster SDG Action and Inclusive Growth
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has called on Nigerians to use the country’s 66th Independence anniversary to renew their commitment to unity, inclusive growth and sustainable development. She said the benefits of independence should be reflected in better access to quality education, affordable healthcare, decent jobs, basic infrastructure and opportunities for citizens to improve their lives. She also stressed the need to prioritise vulnerable households and underserved communities. With the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals drawing closer, she urged governments at all levels to improve coordination, targeted investment, accountability and data-driven service delivery. She called for stronger collaboration among public institutions, businesses, civil society, development partners and communities.
