Kwara North May Overtake Kwara Central as Largest Voting Bloc in 2027, Group Projects

Kwara Must Change projects that Kwara North could become Kwara State’s largest voting bloc in the 2027 general elections, edging ahead of Kwara Central for the first time. The group said Kwara Central’s share of statewide votes fell from 52% in 1999 to about 39% in 2023. Over the same period, it said Kwara North rose from 24% to 36%, narrowing the gap between the two districts to four percentage points. Its projection places Kwara North at 38–39% of the vote in 2027, while Kwara Central could fall to 37–38%. Kwara South is expected to remain a potential swing bloc. The group cited demographic changes, voter mobilisation and grassroots organisation, while warning that insecurity in parts of Kwara North could affect turnout.
