Passionate Appeal to President Tinubu: Convert Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma into a Federal Institution

I am writing on behalf of Esanland to urge the federal government to take over Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and convert it into a federal university. Esanland currently has only one federal institution in Edo State—University of Benin. Other proposed campuses are specialized and sited outside Edo Central. After more than a century since Nigeria’s amalgamation and decades of statehood, it is an anomaly that Esanland lacks a federal university. Esanland has produced notable leaders—from Chief Anthony Enahoro, who moved Nigeria’s independence motion in 1953, to Professor Ambrose Alli and Victor Osimhen. Converting AAU will protect its legacy, improve funding and management, and honour Esanland’s contributions to Nigeria. I respectfully ask President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expedite the takeover of Ambrose Alli University for the benefit of Edo Central and the nation.
