NHRC Kano Records 120 Rights Complaints in August, 45 Still Pending
The National Human Rights Commission in Kano received 120 complaints of alleged human rights violations in August. The commission said it had resolved 75 cases, while 45 remained pending. Child-related complaints made up the largest share, with 80 cases involving child abandonment and violations of children’s rights. It also received 29 complaints involving domestic violence and alleged violations of the right to life. Other cases concerned economic and cultural rights, alleged law-enforcement abuses, and neglect of parental responsibilities. The commission said it also intervened in some marital disputes and would continue working with security agencies and relevant organisations to strengthen rights protection in Kano.
