Troops Arrest Mother and Toddler Near Mandara Mountains for Alleged Terror Link
Troops from the 26 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI intercepted a 20-year-old woman and her two-year-old child on July 4, 2026. The arrest took place around 3:50pm along the Gwoza–Pulka Road near the Mandara Mountains in Borno State. The woman claimed she was heading to her farm, but intelligence indicated she was attempting to enter a known terrorist enclave near the Nigeria–Cameroon border. Troops recovered her mobile phone, an extra battery, and personal clothing during the stop. Both the woman and her child are now in the custody of the 26 Task Force Brigade for further questioning. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to seal off routes used by insurgents and their collaborators in the region. Security forces say the overall situation remains calm but unpredictable, requiring continued vigilance.
