Benjamin Fredrick Returns From Knee Injury After Nine-Month Layoff
Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick has returned to competitive action after about nine months out with a meniscus injury. The 21-year-old played 45 minutes for Brentford U21 in a 5-1 win over Sunderland U21. It was his first appearance since November 2025, after surgery ended his loan spell at Belgian side Dender. Brentford have promoted Fredrick to their first-team squad for the 2026/27 season and given him a new four-year contract, with an option for a further year. His immediate task is to rebuild his fitness and compete for a place in the Premier League squad. Having made his Super Eagles debut and featured in World Cup qualifiers in 2025, can Fredrick develop into a regular for both Brentford and Nigeria?
