Does Your Character Reflect the Meaning of Your Name?
I once heard that parents should not give their children biblical names without teaching them biblical values. The joke came after someone said a man named Moses had robbed him. Many parents choose names to honour God, but a good name does not automatically shape a person’s character. We often see people whose actions seem to contradict the meaning or biblical example behind their names: Peace may be violent, Love may hate, and Grace may bring disgrace. The real challenge is to live in a way that reflects the good meaning of our names. Like Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel after his encounter with God, we can ask God to transform our character and help us walk in righteousness.
