Rohr Laments Benin Players’ Failed Attempt to Meet Messi After Argentina Friendly

Benin coach Gernot Rohr has criticised the treatment of his players after Argentina’s 3-0 friendly win, played during Lionel Messi’s farewell celebrations. Rohr said Benin players hoped to meet Messi, take photographs and exchange shirts after the match. He said security prevented Benin’s delegation from entering the tunnel and Argentina’s dressing-room area. According to Rohr, the team also tried to present Messi with a bouquet in Benin’s national colours. He said Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni later helped him get a Messi shirt from 2018 signed and returned to him.
