Senegal’s President Showcases AFCON Trophy on Facebook After CAF Strips Title
Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has updated his Facebook profile to feature the AFCON trophy behind him. He made the change days after CAF stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and awarded Morocco a 3–0 win. CAF’s Appeals Board ruled that Senegal forfeited the final due to a temporary walk-off, even though they won 1–0 after extra time. The decision has drawn widespread outrage. Abdoulaye Sow, FSF Secretary General, accused CAF of corruption in an interview with Le Soleil. He vowed the trophy will stay in Senegal and said discussions are ongoing to reverse the ruling.
