Why Do Mothers-in-Law and Daughters-in-Law Often Clash?
Why do conflicts between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law seem more common than disagreements between fathers-in-law and sons-in-law? From my observation, these tensions may come from fears about influence, boundaries and financial support. A mother may feel that her son is doing too much for his wife, while the wife may worry that her mother-in-law is influencing her husband against her. I think the real issue may be competition for attention and a lack of clear boundaries. What do you think causes these conflicts, and how can families manage them better?
