Femi Pedro Officially Assumes Role as Nigerian High Commissioner to Australia
Otunba Femi Pedro has officially presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of Australia, H.E. Ms. Sam Mostyn AC. He is now on duty to strengthen the Nigeria-Australia partnership, focusing on critical minerals and diaspora relations. Pedro holds a master’s degree in economics from a US university and began his career at the Central Bank of Nigeria before co-founding Guaranty Trust Bank in 1990. He later led Comet Merchant Bank and served as deputy governor of Lagos State from 2003 to 2007. After various political roles—including a stint as SMEDAN chairman under President Buhari and founding chair of the Lagos Sports Trust Fund—Pedro brings extensive experience to his diplomatic appointment. He aims to deepen bilateral ties and foster renewed hope between the two nations.
