21-Year-Old Man Remanded for Murder and Alleged Necrophilia in Ondo State
A Magistrates’ Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of 21-year-old carpenter Anthony Alabi at the Olokuta Correctional Centre. He faces two counts of murder and theft after the death of 58-year-old Veronica Olaseni. According to the prosecutor, Alabi strangled the victim on her farm in Iboropa-Akoko after she recognised him during an attempted theft. He is also accused of stealing her phone, cutlass and bank card, and later admitting to having intercourse with her corpse. The court did not take his plea for lack of jurisdiction. Presiding Magistrate Temitope Adurota has forwarded the case file to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. The matter is adjourned to June 6 for mention.
