Daniel Tobiloba Adegboyega, a 21-year-old basketball player at Jacksonville State University in the United States, has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape, according to court records. The charge alleges that he engaged in sexual intercourse with the complainant through forcible compulsion on July 29, 2026. He is being held in Calhoun County Jail pending a bond hearing, and jail records reportedly show an immigration hold was placed on him. Jacksonville State said Adegboyega has been suspended from its men’s basketball team while the case remains under investigation. The university also removed his player biography from its athletics website. First-degree rape in Alabama can carry a sentence of up to life imprisonment if convicted.
