Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso says he has recovered from the disappointment of being sacked by Real Madrid after only seven months in charge. Alonso was dismissed in January following Real Madrid's Supercopa de España final defeat to Barcelona. He said the experience left a “scar” but also gave him time to reflect on his tactics, adaptation and man-management. The former Bayer Leverkusen coach now faces the task of rebuilding Chelsea after the club finished 10th in the 2025-26 Premier League season and missed out on European football.
