10 Questions Voters Should Ask Before Any Government Leaves Office
As elections approach, voters should look beyond new campaign promises and ask what the outgoing government achieved with its time and public funds. Citizens deserve a clear record of fulfilled, abandoned and unfinished promises. They should be able to examine major contracts, project costs, contractors, completion dates and whether completed facilities are actually working. An outgoing administration should also disclose its debts, financial obligations, employment claims, security interventions and the status of unfinished projects. Claims of job creation or improved security should be supported by measurable evidence, not political slogans. A proper handover must include public records, contracts, project documents and financial commitments. Auditors, lawmakers, journalists and citizens should independently scrutinise these records. Public office is temporary, but accountability for public money should remain.
