IPOB Says Ifeanyi Ejiofor No Longer Represents It or Nnamdi Kanu
The Indigenous People of Biafra says lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor is no longer part of its legal team and does not represent the group or its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement, IPOB alleged that Kanu had earlier dismissed Ejiofor over claims of professional misconduct and incompetence in the handling of his case. The group also accused him of acting with individuals and groups opposed to Kanu’s release. IPOB said Ejiofor may represent clients privately but should not be described as its counsel. It warned media organisations against identifying him as IPOB’s lawyer, saying only counsel appointed by Kanu and the group’s leadership should be recognised. These allegations have not been independently verified.
