Why WhatsApp Payment Requests Are Not Proper Invoices
Sending “Hi, you owe me ₦45,000 for the logo” on WhatsApp is not invoicing. It makes payment sound optional. As a freelancer, I need to state the amount, due date, payment terms and what happens when payment is late. Without those details, clients may not treat the request as a business obligation. I also cannot keep accepting endless free revisions or replying to “small adjustments” late at night, then blame clients when they delay payment. Professional work needs clear boundaries from the start. Do you agree that freelancers should use formal invoices and written payment terms?
