Why Are Nigerian Universities Making Departmental Uniforms a Daily Requirement?

I have noticed that more Nigerian universities are making departmental uniforms a daily requirement, and it is gradually becoming the norm. In my view, uniforms should be limited to departments that need them for practicals, laboratory sessions or fieldwork. Making every student wear one every day feels unnecessary. Could this eventually extend to postgraduate students too? The photos show students from one Nigerian university. I am glad this was not the norm during my university days.
