EFCC Dismissed Over 40 Staff for Corruption, Says Olukoyede
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede says the commission has dismissed more than 40 staff members for corruption and financial malpractice over the past three years. He said over five of the affected personnel are being prosecuted, while case files involving others are being prepared. According to him, the EFCC must hold its own staff to the same standards it applies when investigating members of the public. Olukoyede also said the agency has renamed its Department of Internal Affairs as the Department of Ethics and Integrity. The commission has introduced a gift policy and plans to require staff to declare gifts and assets above a specified threshold to strengthen accountability.
