From New Nyanya Streets to Facing Kanté: Victor Gidado’s Rise in Turkey
Nigerian midfielder Victor Ntino-Emo Gidado played the full 90 minutes as Gaziantep held Fenerbahçe to a goalless draw in the Turkish Super Lig. The 22-year-old, who once played street football in New Nyanya and Abuja, faced stars he had previously watched from outside viewing centres. He made four interceptions, recovered the ball seven times and completed 65% of his passes. Gidado said the moment showed that a person’s starting point does not determine their future. The former Slovenia-based player has made five first-team appearances for Gaziantep this season.
