Edo Seizes ‘Smoky Popping’ Sweets Allegedly Marketed to Children
The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee says it has seized quantities of “Smoky Popping” sweets alleged to be drug-induced and sold to children in Benin City. The committee said undercover investigators found the products at two shops on College Road, off Ekehuan Road. It said the vendors were warned to stop selling them or face arrest and prosecution. Officials also traced a supplier to Mission Road, where more of the products were reportedly seized. The committee urged parents not to buy the sweets for their children and asked vendors holding the product to return it to their dealers as investigations continue.
