Cynthia Erivo and Ayoade Bamgboye Bring Early-2000s Nollywood Style to ‘Nigerian Wicked’
Cynthia Erivo and comedian Ayoade Bamgboye recreated the colourful world of early-2000s Nollywood in a “Nigerian Wicked” sketch on Saturday Night Live UK. Erivo played Glinda in a metallic pink top, low-rise jeans, a silver hip belt and bold accessories. Bamgboye’s Elphaba featured green makeup, a flip bob, tailored trousers and chunky gold jewellery. Beaded doorway curtains and vintage-style backdrops completed the throwback set, drawing on the memorable fashion and interiors of classic Nollywood films. Erivo hosted the episode, while Lagos-raised Bamgboye wrote and co-starred in the sketch.
