FG Proposes 360km/h High-Speed Rail Link From Lagos to Maiduguri

The Federal Government says it plans to develop a high-speed rail corridor linking Lagos and Maiduguri, with trains designed to reach speeds of up to 360km/h. The proposal was announced at the 19th National Council on Transportation in Abuja. The government says the project is intended to reduce dependence on road travel, ease pressure from heavy-duty vehicles and give passengers more transport options. Officials also outlined plans for a national transport data bank, six standardised bus terminals, light rail projects in Lagos and Kano, and continued port reconstruction and automation. However, no cost, construction timeline or completion date has yet been announced for the Lagos-Maiduguri route.
