Chinese National, Two Others Jailed for Terrorism-Related Offences in Kebbi
A Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi sentenced Chinese national Ripin Liu to six years in prison for terrorism-related offences and unlawful possession of a firearm. Aliyu Hadari and Umar Musa Uzzi received 15 years each after the court found that they provided logistical support to terrorists and conspired to commit terrorism. The defendants were intercepted on Yauri Road in a vehicle allegedly intended for transporting abducted persons to a forest hideout. Liu was arrested with a Beretta pistol. The court ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle and a Bajaj motorcycle linked to the offences. In separate cases, several other defendants received prison terms for offences including unlawful possession of firearms. Six people were also convicted and sentenced to between three and eight years for damaging and stealing electricity cables in the Sakaba area of Kebbi State.
