Maduka University has won the 2026 South-East Business Plan Competition in its first appearance at the event. The competition was organised by entrepreneurship centre directors in Nigerian universities in partnership with the National Universities Commission. The university’s team, Chinonso Josuha Ezema and Caleb Nwabo, beat entries from more than 21 federal, state and private universities in the region. Their venture, Agricept Foods, focuses on adding value to locally sourced farm produce. Their winning plan involves processing, packaging and marketing Ose Nsukka, also known as Nsukka Yellow Pepper, for Nigerian consumers and export markets. Nigeria-British University placed second, while Nnamdi Azikiwe University came third. The three universities will represent the South-East at the National Enterprise Competition in Abuja in November 2026.
