Hamas Says It Agrees to Disarm Under Trump-Backed Gaza Peace Framework
Hamas says it has accepted a United States-backed framework to end the war in Gaza, including the gradual handover of its weapons to a Palestinian governing committee and a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces. The proposed plan would place Hamas weapons under the supervision of a committee linked to the Board of Peace, while a new Palestinian administration takes responsibility for governing Gaza. Hamas says international mediators must ensure that Israel fully withdraws its troops. Israel has not issued an official response. An Israeli source said the proposal does not yet meet Israel’s demand for Gaza’s full demilitarisation. Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United States are expected to discuss the next stage of the plan in Cairo.
