Middle-Belt Youth Group Welcomes Army Division in Benue, Seeks Drones and More Recruitment

The Middle-Belt Youth Congress has welcomed the Federal Government's approval of an Army Division in Benue State, saying it could strengthen operations against banditry, armed attacks and other security threats across the state and the wider Middle Belt. The group said renewed violence in Benue and Kaduna requires sustained, coordinated action by security agencies. It called for increased aerial surveillance, including modern intelligence and combat drones, to improve early warning and response in vulnerable communities. It also urged the Armed Forces to recruit more personnel and asked the Nigeria Police Force to review restrictions affecting the recruitment of graduates. The Congress appealed to residents to share credible, timely intelligence with security agencies to support efforts to protect lives and property.
