Oyo Police Rescue Baby Allegedly Sold for ₦2 Million, Arrest Mother
Oyo State Police Command says it has rescued a one-month-old baby girl allegedly sold for ₦2 million shortly after her birth in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan. The case was reported by the baby’s grandmother, who said her 23-year-old daughter disappeared with the child about a week after delivery and could not explain the baby’s whereabouts. Police say the mother confessed that the owner of the health centre where she gave birth and another suspect facilitated the sale. Investigators allege the mother received ₦1 million, while the two facilitators received ₦500,000 each. The baby has been rescued, while police are seeking the alleged buyer and other suspects connected to the case.
