Djokovic Battles Back to Beat Vacherot, Says Paris Masters Win Took a Physical Toll
Novak Djokovic came back from a set and a break down to defeat Valentin Vacherot 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of the Paris Masters. The two-hour, 35-minute match ended Vacherot’s five-match winning streak and kept Djokovic’s bid to qualify for the ATP Finals alive. Djokovic said Vacherot’s powerful serve made the match difficult, and admitted a missed volley in the first-set tiebreak left him in trouble. He eventually broke back in the second set and took control, but said the long rallies made the contest physically tiring. The seven-time Paris Masters champion will face Rinky Hijikata in the next round.
