Pet Monkey’s Attack Claims 7-Year-Old Boy’s Life in Thailand
A seven-year-old boy in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, has died after being mauled by his family’s pet macaque. The four-year-old monkey attacked him while he was playing outside, biting and wrestling him to the ground. Relatives found the boy covered in wounds and rushed him to Sichon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on June 6. Doctors said the monkey’s long fangs punctured his lung and hit a vital area, making survival impossible. His mother said the attack was far worse than first reported. Her son also suffered a bite to the right ribcage, and she vowed never to keep another monkey for fear of endangering her younger child. Authorities have located the aggressive macaque and called in wildlife experts with tranquiliser guns. Neighbours say the animal had shown aggression before, even attacking a stray cat, and now must be captured to prevent further danger.
