Tobi Amusan: My Body Shut Down, but I Fought for World Championship Silver
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan won silver in the women’s hurdles at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, clocking 12.34 seconds. American hurdler Masai Russell won gold in 12.22 seconds. Amusan said minor injuries made the season difficult and took a toll on her body. She credited encouragement from her family, mentor, coach and boyfriend for helping her regain confidence before the final. The 29-year-old said the women’s hurdles field is becoming more competitive every year. She vowed to keep pushing after ending a challenging season with a podium finish.
