What Grace Means: Salvation, Truth, Instruction and Fruit
I reject the idea that grace means gaining at Christ’s expense. I argue that grace flows from Christ’s victory and fullness, not from a diminished Christ. The believer should seek Christ above material gain and reject any success that compromises faithfulness to Him. I understand grace as God’s help in relation to truth and divine standards. The Law reveals sin and human insufficiency, while grace supplies the help needed to live rightly through Jesus Christ. Grace and truth do not cancel God’s standards; they enable believers to fulfil what God requires. I also believe saving grace teaches. Drawing on Scripture, I argue that grace calls believers to reject ungodliness, live self-controlled lives and remain hopeful for Christ’s return. Grace is not merely an excuse for wrongdoing; it brings instruction, discipline and direction. Finally, I see grace as a gift that should produce fruit. Those who receive grace should use it faithfully, sow to the Spirit and yield a return that honours Christ. Grace saves, teaches, restrains and calls believers into a life shaped by truth.
