Miss Universe Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina says she has been treated unfairly and made an example of as she challenges a possible deportation and detention in South Africa. Speaking after proceedings at the Cape Town Regional Court, Adetshina said she was born in South Africa and had followed the legal process to determine her citizenship status. She urged authorities not to let xenophobia or misinformation influence the case, adding that she would continue to respect the legal process. The matter was postponed to 27 February 2027.
