A Prayer for a Deeper Understanding of the Cross

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me on the cross. Thank You for setting aside Your heavenly glory, living a sinless life and offering Yourself as a sacrifice for my sins. Forgive me for becoming too familiar with the story of Good Friday and Easter without fully grasping the cost of the cross. Help me to reflect on Your love, rejection and suffering, and on the Father's sacrifice in sending His Son to save a fallen world. Give me a deeper understanding of what the cross means. Fill me with godly awe and gratitude for the grace that saves me through faith in Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.
