Suspected Bandits Kill 10, Including Pregnant Woman, in Broad-Daylight Attack on Guga Village Market
A suspected bandit gang stormed the grain market in Guga village, Bakori LGA, Katsina State, on Sunday, May 17. They opened fire indiscriminately, killing a pregnant woman and nine others as traders and residents fled in panic. Witnesses say the attackers operated unhindered for several hours before disappearing into the bush. Many of the victims were farmers from nearby communities who had come to sell their produce in the market. The bodies were laid to rest in a mass funeral on Monday morning in Guga village. The state police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
