Argentina Beat Travel-Hit Burkina Faso 7-0 in Buenos Aires Friendly

Argentina defeated Burkina Faso 7-0 in an international friendly at the Monumental in Buenos Aires, their biggest-ever victory over an African opponent. Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring after four minutes. An own goal by Moumoune Diallo, plus goals from Gianluca Prestianni, Nico Paz, Julián Álvarez, Franco Mastantuono and Giuliano Simeone completed the rout. Prestianni, Paz and Mastantuono scored their first senior international goals. Burkina Faso arrived only five hours before kickoff after a private flight from Morocco was cancelled due to technical problems. Several senior players also declined to travel because of fatigue, leaving the team with a largely youthful squad. Lionel Messi did not feature for Argentina after arriving on Friday ahead of their next friendly against Benin.
