Army Foils Boko Haram Raid on Gajibo Base, Arrests Suspects and Frees Hostages
Troops of Joint Task Force North East (Operation HADIN KAI) repelled a coordinated Boko Haram attack on the Forward Operating Base in Gajibo, Borno State. Heavily armed insurgents on motorcycles were forced to withdraw under swift mortar fire and intensive follow-up operations recovered ammunition and combat kit. In separate actions, soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force operatives arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio and a logistics supplier in Gwoza who has since confessed to multiple deliveries of supplies to terrorists. A 17-year-old family member of a militant also surrendered along the Gwoza-Limankara axis after fleeing a Mandara Mountains enclave. Poor living conditions and sustained military pressure drove his decision. Troops further intercepted and rescued two male kidnapping victims from Mafa town. They have been handed over for medical evaluation and support. The Joint Task Force remains on high alert to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and restore lasting security in the North East.
