Troops Repel Boko Haram Assault in Magumeri, Two Soldiers Killed
Early on May 7, troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI successfully contained an ISWAP attack on their Forward Operating Base in Magumeri, Borno State. The terrorists first struck Magumeri town, burning a hospital and vehicles, before attempting to infiltrate the camp under cover of poor visibility. Soldiers fought decisively, neutralising many attackers and recovering a large cache of weapons, including PKT anti-aircraft guns and AK-47 rifles. Sadly, two soldiers gave their lives, and several officers were wounded and are now receiving medical care. Security forces continue to conduct exploitation operations in the area to consolidate their gains and assess further battle damage.
