UK Woman Jailed for Life Over Murder of Infant Daughter
Sarah Ngaba, 32, received a life sentence with a minimum term of 12 years and 154 days at Birmingham Crown Court after being found guilty of murdering her seven-week-old daughter Eliza in 2019. Evidence showed Eliza suffered catastrophic head injuries from violent shaking and impact before her death from infection in August 2022. Ngaba delayed seeking medical help, lied to medics and police about the cause of the injuries, and was later charged with murder after Eliza’s death. The judge condemned Ngaba’s actions as callous, praising the foster parents who gave Eliza a loving home. The Crown Prosecution Service described the case as one of the most distressing it had handled, highlighting the baby’s defenselessness and the defendant’s lack of remorse. Investigators and Eliza’s family continue to mourn the loss of a child who was cruelly harmed by her own mother.
