Benin-Asaba Expressway Works to Accelerate From October, Concessionaire Says
The Benin-Asaba Expressway Concession Company says it will accelerate permanent reconstruction work on the 125-kilometre highway as rainfall eases and the dry season begins. The company said persistent rain has slowed earthworks, pavement stabilisation and asphalt operations, but has not stopped construction. It added that palliative repairs will continue on difficult sections to reduce disruption for motorists. According to the concessionaire, the 36-month project includes road expansion, drainage, culverts, pavement reconstruction and asphalt installation. Additional workers, equipment and construction resources are being mobilised ahead of increased activity from October. The company appealed to motorists and communities along the corridor for patience, saying it must manage heavy traffic while rebuilding the busy highway.
