Three Killed, One Injured in Nighttime Raid on Jos South Community
On April 3, armed men stormed Gyel Nyango Community in Jos South Local Government Area. They opened fire on residents as they returned from a mining site. Three people were killed and one person was wounded. Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, condemned the attack. He called it a senseless assault on innocent citizens and urged security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also warned locals in Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi to remain vigilant. Police Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo confirmed the incident around 9:20 pm. A patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division Bukuru responded immediately. The injured victim was taken to a hospital and is receiving treatment. State Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah expressed deep condolences to the families. He has ordered a statewide ban on night grazing, night mining and commercial motorcycles in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis. A temporary ban on tricycles will also be in effect for April 5. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel at night.
