WAEC Official Alleges ₦15bn Calculator and ID Card Shortfall in 2026 WASSCE
A WAEC official, Olanrewaju Fadehan, has alleged that calculators and identification cards paid for by candidates were not supplied during the 2026 WASSCE. He estimated the value of the alleged shortfall at about ₦15 billion. Fadehan claimed that about 1.5 million candidates did not receive calculators. He also alleged examination delays, question-sharing and computer-based test issues. He said he submitted petitions to WAEC, the EFCC, ICPC, the education ministry and the National Assembly. WAEC has rejected the allegations as false and sensational. The council and its Head of National Office, Dr Amos Dangut, have filed a lawsuit, while police invited Fadehan over cyberstalking and criminal defamation allegations. A court has also issued an interim order restricting further publication of allegedly defamatory material. The claims remain unproven and are part of an ongoing legal dispute.
