South Africa’s IEC Opens Election Results System to Party ICT Experts Ahead of Local Polls
South Africa’s Electoral Commission has begun an independent external audit of its Election Results System ahead of the November 4 local government elections. ICT experts nominated by the ANC, DA, ACDP and uMkhonto weSizwe Party are reviewing the system’s integrity, security, functionality and reliability. The review is scheduled to end on October 12. The system captures and collates election results and helps allocate seats to contestants. The audit follows technical issues recorded during the 2024 national and provincial elections. The IEC says it has upgraded voter-management devices and carried out end-to-end testing to support a credible, transparent and legally compliant 2026 local government election.
