Sowore Resists Transfer to Kuje Prison, Kicks Against Black Maria
A viral video shows activist and AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore refusing to board a prison van outside the Federal High Court in Abuja. He protested loudly as officials tried to transfer him to Kuje Custodial Centre following a bail revocation by Justice Mohammed Umar. The court ordered Sowore’s remand on cybercrime charges filed by the DSS over social media posts accusing President Tinubu of wrongdoing. His legal team also sought to recuse the judge, but that application was dismissed alongside their motion to stay the bail revocation. Footage captures Sowore shouting that he is not a criminal and kicking at the high-security vehicle while DSS officers use force to escort him away. The incident sparked chaos at the court premises and has drawn fresh debate about political dissent and human rights in Nigeria.
